Gary Lakey

Gary Lakey is the Vice President of Safety and Labor at Xcel Energy. He has worked with Xcel Energy for more than 15 years, leading the company to an industry-leading approach to eliminate Serious Injuries and Fatalities (SIF). He also leads the organization in labor relations in negotiating with 11 local unions. Gary has over 35 years of industry experience in utility operations, regulatory and legislative affairs, human resources, among other disciplines. He is passionate about helping transform utilities and business units in achieving greater ROI by building transparent and constructive relationships with regulators, customers, and employees.

Gary has a BBA in Business Administration from Georgia State University and a MS in Organizational Leadership from Colorado State University. He lives with his wife in Amarillo, Texas, along with their two dogs. He enjoys riding his motorcycle, collecting cars, and going on long road trips with his family cross country.
