Luke Bowley

Director of Research to Practice

Luke has a diverse background and extensive experience in the electric utility space. Having served in the Marines, he developed a strong sense of discipline, dedication, and leadership which he has carried with him throughout his career. Luke's journey with Electric utility began 15 years ago as a meter reader, he soon had a desire to expand his skills and broaden his understanding of the utility industry. Luke took on various challenges within his local utility, including working with the civil construction group, and as a line worker. These experiences gave him firsthand field knowledge and a well-rounded understanding of the company's operations and infrastructure.

Recognizing his passion for ensuring the safety and well-being of his fellow colleagues, Luke made the decision to pursue a master’s degree in safety occupational health and applied sciences. Armed with the knowledge and expertise gained from his studies, Luke joined the safety team ultimately transitioning into the role of Safety Manager.

Soon after joining the safety team at his former employer, he joined the CSRA. Starting with the Unique Precursors of SIF team, then working on the High Energy: Controlling the Uncontrollable team. During this period, Luke fully embraced the principles of safety through science and became a strong advocate for the CSRA. From a craft worker’s perspective there was finally an explainable, logical reason for what was being done. With this experience and background, Luke was then selected to Chair the Energy Based Risk Assessment Team.

Luke’s ability to connect safety science with real-world applications continues to drive meaningful change, fostering a culture where safety is not just a priority—but a shared value. As Director of Research to Practice, Luke is excited to continue to advance innovative approaches that protect workers and empower organizations to better understand and manage risk.
